Sarah Needham has been designing flowers for over 15 years but her interest in botanicals started much earlier when her father would take her for long walks and teach her what plants could be utilized for various purposes. She learned to spot plants and flowers that were edible, poisonous, used for dyes, etc. Later on, she started her floral career as a floral manager for Kroger and dove into weddings and events once she moved to the Washington DC area. Working for some of the top florists in DC, she quickly rose in the ranks, becoming a lead designer by the time she moved to Pittsburgh. Now she splits her time running her floral studio , freelancing for other shops, running demonstrations and teaching floral design at Phipps.
